Avonda Fogan, Chief of Staff, Strategy Risks

Avonda serves as the Chief of Staff at Strategy Risks where she advises the CEO and senior management team on strategic planning, policy, business development, and operations. A proficient speaker of Mandarin, Avonda started her Chinese studies journey at George Washington University's (GW) Elliott School of International Affairs. She studied abroad at Minzu University in Beijing and spent time traveling in mainland China and Taiwan. After her time at GW, she worked at the US-China Strong Foundation to enhance US-China relations on a grassroots level by investing in a new generation of leaders who were equipped with the knowledge and skills to engage with China. Avonda broadened her skillset in the finance and education industries by working on the Sustainable Finance team at JPMorgan Chase & Co supporting projects related to the firm’s environmental, social & governance policies, impact finance initiatives, and sustainability efforts. And at KIPP Foundation, she spearheaded a new initiative to build the foundation of an internship program for over 15,000 KIPP Alumni in college by establishing partnerships with companies in both the public and private sectors. Avonda is a Member of the National Committee on United States-China Relations and a Founding Member and Board Director of the Black China Caucus.
