Sandra Zuniga Guzman, Foreign Service Officer, U.S. Department of State
Sandra Zuniga Guzman is a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State and currently serves on the Executive Secretariat in the Office of the Secretary of State. She assists in the planning and preparation of the Secretary of State’s travel, as well as reviews briefing materials on U.S. foreign policy in support of the Secretary and other senior-level principals. Sandra previously served as a Consular Officer at U.S. Embassy Hanoi, where she adjudicated non-immigrant visas and supported the expansion of the U.S.-Vietnam adoptions program. Before then, Sandra was the Economic and Commercial Officer at U.S. Embassy Georgetown, covering a broad range of topics from energy to intellectual property rights, telecommunications, and fiscal transprency. She has also served on the Venezuela desk. Sandra graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Richmond. She also has an MA in International Relations and Economics, with specializations in Latin American Studies and Emerging Markets, from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Sandra is an alum of the Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs fellowship and the United Nations Association of National Capital Area Graduate fellowship and a current member of Foreign Policy for America's NextGen Foreign Policy Initiative.
